Why did you choose to join the mining industry?
Something new and challenging, that I wasn’t fully familiar with.
What are your job responsibilities?
I am responsible for the majority of corporate matters in the company, I write and prepare all financial statements for the company, I am Corporate Secretary to the Board of Directors and handle the Investor Relations.
Explain one specific job responsibility:
The main and biggest part of my job is the financial aspect. Moving from a junior exploration company to a gold producing company, the accounting for U.S. GAAP becomes much more involved and is ever changing. Every quarter the financials must be written, reviewed or audited by independent auditing firm and filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
What’s your favorite part of your job?
Besides, loving accounting, I very much enjoy the shareholder interaction that comes with my job.
What’s the most challenging part of your job?
Understanding the stock market and correlation to the mining industry
What’s your advice to young people entering the industry?
Make sure you love what you do, look for a company with a strong management team and a good property/deposit and work hard
